Calgary, AB — In a bid to make the city more attractive to tourists, the city is adding a new website optimization tool that aims to help users navigate to the right website.
The city is working with Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal to create the “Smart Website Optimization” tool, which can be used to help site owners optimize their sites and services for more visitors.
“We’re trying to help sites with a lot of issues, like the lack of content or the lack in quality that we have seen in the last couple of years,” said Michelle McArthur, the chief technology officer of Calgary Transit.
She says this is a first step in the city’s efforts to improve the quality of services.
“So, we’re just starting with the beginning and we want to get it going, but the goal is to get that site out to more people, which is important,” McArthur said.
McArthur says the tool is being developed in partnership with the City of Calgary and the Metrolinx Transportation Network, and will be available to users of the citywide website.
McArthsons office is helping to develop the tool and hopes it will be ready in time for the next city election.
McAthers office has been working with the city on the new tool for the last three months, but it is not yet available to the public.
Mcaurays office says the tools is meant to be a first-step in helping site owners make the most of their time on a website.
“It’s not a magic bullet, but to me it’s definitely going to help you with a number of things,” McArthson said.
The City of Montreal is also using Smart Website Optimisation to help websites and services improve their website.
City officials say it’s a key step in improving the quality and availability of services for the city.
The tool was developed by the city to help citywide websites and websites of individual cities.
The city has been trying to build a better website experience in recent years, and is hoping to help improve the way it does business.
